Taiwan is officially visa-free for Filipinos starting November 1, 2017. The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office announced yesterday afternoon, October 16, 2017 that Filipinos who wish to enter Taiwan may do so and stay for 14 days without a visa. Taiwan seeks to propel their ‘New Southbound Policy’ by building good economic and cultural relationships between their country and ours.

The following purposes shall be granted visa-free entry:

  • Tourism
  • Business
  • Visiting family
  • Attending events

If you wish to study or work in Taiwan, or stay for more than 14 days, a visa is still needed.

Taiwan visa-free entry requirements for Filipinos

As listed by Rappler, you just need four simple requirements to enter Taiwan visa-free.

  2. Return ticket or ticket to next destination with a visa to that destination if needed
  3. No criminal record in Taiwan
  4. Proof of accommodation (can be proof of hotel booking, contact information of host, or tour arrangements)

1. Elephant Mountain or Nangang District Hiking Trail

To get the best view of the city skyline, hike up the Elephant Mountain trail before sunset. It’s a 15-20 minute hike to the top but it’s all worth it once you see the view!

7. Yehliu Geopark

The Yehliu Geopark is quite the sight to see. The rocks would weather in different ways, forming curious structures such as an Egyptian queen’s head or something less royal but equally beautiful like a sea candle.

8. Xinbeitou Hot Spring

No trip to Taiwan is complete without visiting a hot spring. The Xinbeitou Hot Spring is a tourist favorite, giving a different glimpse of Taipei after being in the cityscape for long. It’s quite a long walk to get here but visitors say it’s all going to be a distant memory after bathing in the springs.

10. Taipei Fine Arts Museum

Whenever I go to a different country, I always make sure to visit one museum. The Taipei Fine Arts Museum, while housing collections from traditional to modern artists, also holds outdoor interactive exhibits for the full experience. Oh and if you’re wondering, the building is shaped like the pound (#) sign and is a modern take to the traditional siheyuan courtyard.
