‘My Love From The Star’ lead Kim Soo Hyun briefly bid fans goodbye on Instagram as he starts his mandatory military service in the Gyeonggi Province.
The 29-year-old actor just posted a white image with the caption “I would like to greet you briefly before I enlist. I would like to thank all those who have always supported me. I will be back in good health. I hope everyone will stay healthy,” as translated by Manila Bulletin Entertainment.
Kim Soo Hyun also revealed last 2012 that he was suffering from fast heartbeat syndrome, to which he underwent surgery for and recovered soon enough to be deemed physically fit for military service.
Last September 2017, Soo Hyun’s military service was announced by his agency Keyeast Entertainment through photos taken from the training ceremony. He will be discharged on July 22, 2019.
Kim Soo Hyun is known for his lead roles in Dream High (2011) and Moon Embracing the Sun (2012). His effortlessly good looks earned him top ads and brand representations all over South Korea. His dramas, particularly My Love From the Star (2013) have paved the way for him to gain international fame, winning awards such as the Netizen Popularity Award, Chinese Netizen Popularity Award, Top Excellence Award, Actor in a Drama Special during the SBS Drama Awards held in 2014. That was also the year he was named Best Actor in Asia in the 8th Tokyo International Drama Festival.
In 2016 after finishing his 2015 drama The Producers, Kim Soo Hyun became a professional bowler and was actively posting on Instagram photos of him in bowling competitions.
