We Tried the New Starbucks Franken Frappuccino and Here’s What We Think
Starbucks Philippines surely didn’t skip over Halloween while waiting for Christmas! On October 24, 2017, Starbucks Philippines released their Halloween Drink – the Franken Frappuccino. And in my opinion, Frankenstein would be pleasantly surprised by this new creation.
Inspired by Frankenstein’s zombie-like appearance, the Starbucks Philippines Franken Frappuccino is a dark chocolate mocha frappuccino based drink topped with matcha whipped cream sprinkled with cocoa powder. But wait, we’re not done. At the bottom of the drink is a spoonful of Frankie’s guts that we occasionally refer to in the 21st century as “chocolate pudding”.
What does the Starbucks Franken Frappuccino taste like?
The Starbucks Franken Frappuccino tastes like matcha KitKat. Although such is true if you take time to mix in the whipped cream and angle your straw every so slightly to get both layers.
Without mixing, it tastes just like your regular dark chocolate mocha frappuccino but with additional sweetness and texture from the pudding. I personally think that the pudding gave a brand new dimension to the drink and is a lot easier to consume than coffee jelly.
Is the Franken Frappuccino worth your stars? Yes. It’s a brand new experience from all the other specialty drinks they have. The matcha whipped cream goes well with the chocolate based blended drink and the chocolate pudding is a pleasant twist at the end. It also looks nice on photos, if you’re thinking of putting it on the ‘gram. It’s only available for a limited time so I say go for it!
Of course, like all of Starbucks Philippines’ specialty drinks, it’s a little more expensive than the drinks on their standard menu.
