1. Criminal Minds Korea
Criminal Minds is easily one of our favorites this year. The story can be a bit repetitive, but the way the main characters would profile the criminals is such an interesting process to see. This is an interesting drama for anyone trying to veer away from the romantic Korean dramas for a while and into the world of criminal thrillers.
2. While You Were Sleeping
While You Were Sleeping is a relatively new drama, coming in at the last few months of 2017. Prosecutor Jae Chan (Lee Jong Suk) crosses paths with Hong Joo (Suzy Bae) who has the ability to dream about future unfortunate events.
3. Queen of Mystery
Yoo Seol Ok (Choi Kang Hee) is a seemingly innocent housewife. When she encounters a young policeman trying to solve a convenience store thief mystery, she easily solves the crime just by looking at the CCTV footage. This marks the start of Seol Ok’s journey as a badass mission-solving police aspirant.
4. Strongest Delivery Man
Go Kyung-Po is back from Chicago Typewriter and into a completely modern era drama. Because since when did we ever encounter a story of a deliveryman becoming the CEO of a delivery app? Goals.
5. Rebel: Thief Who Stole the People
Yoon Kyung Sang, famous for his supporting roles in Pinnocchio and Doctor Crush, plays the Hong Gil Dong, a son of servant who steals from the rich for the poor to prosper. In the time of the Joseon Dynasty when being poor was assigned at birth, Hong Gil Dong aims to restore even just a tiny bit of equity in his community.
6. The Bride of the Water God
The Bride of Habaek stars Nam Joo Hyuk as the Habaek, water god who went to Earth to find a the stone that will get him back his throne. Yoon So Ah (Shin Se Kyung) is supposed to serve this god but Ha-baek is surprised to know she doesn’t believe in gods like him anymore.
7. My Father is Strange
For longer dramas, My Father is Strange is a common favorite among viewers. What would you do if you were living a humble, peaceful life outside the city an a Korean pop idol shows up and tells you you’re related?
8. Stranger (Secret Forest)
This 16-episode drama packs a real punch. It tells about the corruption happening inside the prosecutor’s office alongside a serial murder case that’s been happening.
9. Suspicious Partner
Ji Chang Wook and Nam Ji Hyun are together for Suspiscious Partner, a crime slash romantic-comedy drama about a prosecutor and a prosecutor trainee solving a psychopath murder case.
10. Queen for Seven Days
After Introverted Boss, Yeon Woo Jin now plays King Jungjong in Queen for Seven Days. This 2017 Korean drama revolves around the King’s love story with Queen Dangyeong (Park Min Young) who only held the title for seven days before being dethroned.
